I am committed to ensuring that our district reflects the values and expectations of the families and taxpayers it serves. Every decision made by the Board of Trustees must be guided by a steadfast commitment to student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and long-term stability. 

After more than three decades as a Principal, Curriculum Director, and Chief Learning Officer, I have dedicated my career to public schools—supporting teachers, managing budgets, and helping students succeed. I’m running for the GCISD Board because our district deserves experienced, steady leadership that understands how schools work in challenging times.

Our District stands at a pivotal moment, facing significant funding challenges and rapid changes in public education. Now more than ever, we need bold, experienced, and innovative leadership. To address these challenges, Darrell will prioritize transparent budgeting, advocate for programs that increase enrollment, and champion innovative teaching methods. His approach to service will prioritize finding solutions and implementing programs and strategies that continue the community’s expectations of excellence.

Community Vision & Unity

Darrell believes GCISD is strongest when we all move forward together. His vision for GCISD calls for forthright and inclusive dialogue with our community about the future of our schools. We must work together to increase the enrollment of our schools by providing the educational services parents value. As public education evolves, GCISD must adapt with thoughtful, data-driven strategies and a shared commitment to excellence.

Stability & Stewardship

Every tax dollar should directly support students and classrooms. Darrell’s background in district leadership means he understands school finance and long-range planning. Darrell will champion policies that retain high-quality employees at every level and uphold sound financial practices that protect taxpayers. His leadership will prioritize consistent governance, careful budgeting, and long-range planning, so families can trust that our district is managed responsibly today and sustainably for the future. 

Safe & Supportive Schools

Students and staff should feel safe, respected, and supported every day. A stable, positive environment allows teachers to teach and students to learn. Teachers need to know that this is a stable district, willing to invest in the future of their teaching careers. Our teachers and staff create and maintain the culture of our schools and district.  Quality teachers and staff are invaluable to a quality school district.

Every student deserves a high-quality education, great teachers, and preparation for college, careers, or trades. Programs should stay because they work, and we should be honest about results. Accountability and support go hand in hand.
